Cartosat-2C launched by PSLV-C34

Cartosat-2C, an earth observation satellite – is the primary payload launched into orbit by PSLV-C34 yesterday. Built by Space Application Center, Ahmedabad, this satellite is similar to its predecessors Cartosat-2, 2A and 2B that contains panchromatic (PAN) camera capable of taking black-and-white pictures in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. It also capable of recording minute long video of fixed spots in earth.

The primary application of cartosat imagery will be for cartographic purpose, coastal land use and regulation, urban and rural planning, utility management like road network monitoring, creation of land use maps, water distribution, precision study, change detection to bring out geographical and manmade features and various other land information systems and geographical information system applications.
