Completion of 4 successful years of Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM)

ISRO launched the mars orbiter on 04th of November 2013 and it was successfully launched into martian orbit on 24th September 2014 in its very first attempt. Yesterday marks the completion of 4 years of its successful mission around the red planet. The Mars Orbiter Mission was originally designed to have a lifetime of only 6 months.

“It’s been 4 years since I am around! Thank you for your love and support,”

the official tweet handle mentioned today afternoon.

During the last 4 years, MOM has captured more than 980 images of the martian surface and the two moons of Mars namely Phobos and Deimos. The scientific community has also published several papers based on the data obtained.
