ISRO gets Indira Gandhi Peace Prize for 2014

The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for the year 2014 was presented today in New Delhi to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

IGMT

The prestigious award given to individuals or organisations every year,  in recognition of creative efforts for ensuring that scientific discoveries are used for larger good of humanity and enlarging the scope of freedom,  to promote international peace, development and a new international economic order. The award carries a cash prize of INR 2.5 million and a citation is accorded annually by Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust (IGMT).

The award was presented by Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister and trustee of IGMT, in the presence of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Chairman of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust (IGMT), and was received on behalf of ISRO by Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar, Chairman of ISRO.
