PSLV-C38 in its 40th successful flight launched the Cartosat-2 series satellite and 30 other c-passenger satellites into orbit today. The rocket was launched from first launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Center, SHAR, Sriharikota.
The primary satellite is the Cartosat-2 series remote sensing satellite – which is a successor of five Cartosats launched earlier.
Cartosat-2 is primarily intended for urban and rural applications, utility management like water distribution, roads and road network monitoring, cartographic applications, coastal land use and regulation and change detection to bring out geographical and manmade features and various other land information systems (LIS) and geographical information system applications.
Apart from Cartosat, there were 29 Nano satellites from 14 countries – Austria, Belgium, Chile, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, UK and the US and one from India. The complete list is provided below.
